Together with Vanguard Theater Company, Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) offers three-week session for aspiring actors.
For the weeks of July 11-July 25, UCPAC, together with Vanguard Theater Company, will hold Summer Theater Camp for children ages 8-13 at UCPAC, 1601 Irving Street in Rahway, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp will culminate in a performance of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Kids on Friday, July 29.
“Many children have had their extracurricular activities limited, or have missed out on them altogether, since COVID,” said UCPAC’s Interim Executive Director, Victoria Durbin-Drake. “Now that we’re able to move forward with in-person activities, our summer theatre camp will give them the opportunity to come together as a cast, gain confidence, and most of all, have fun performing on our beautiful Main Stage, where Broadway stars like New Jersey’s own Jeremy Jordan and Ashley Spencer have sung!”
The children will have the opportunity to work with the staff of Montclair, New Jersey’s Vanguard Theater Company, led by Artistic Director and Founder Janeece Freeman Clark, a Professor of Theatre at Seton Hall University and accomplished actor and theater director. Vanguard is committed to “Changing the narrative through theater dedicated to DREAM: Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Activism & Mentorship.”
Tuition for UCPAC’s Summer Theater Camp 3-week session is $500 for Union County Residents and $1,000 for those living outside of Union County. To learn more, or to register, visit www.ucpac.org/summer-theater-camp.
