In adherence to our commitment to advance education, particularly in local communities, The Westfield Foundation is pleased to announce the inclusion of Students2Science (S2S) among its new grantees. Aligned with our mission, S2S aims to inspire and empower students from underserved communities through experiential learning, encouraging them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This initiative resonates with The Westfield Foundation’s overarching goals of fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce.
Katie Darcy, Executive Director, emphasized the synergy between S2S’s mission and The Westfield Foundation’s objectives. The recent $15,000 grant is strategically tailored to support the expansion of STEM programs in Union County, with a specific focus on bolstering the offerings for Rahway Public Schools through the S2S program.
This grant is poised to make a significant impact, benefiting over 275 students. The support encompasses both in-person, experiential STEM learning at the East Hanover Technology Center and classroom activities facilitated by the S2S Virtual Lab program. Notably, the collaboration with Rahway Public Schools underscores our dedication to bringing immersive STEM education to the forefront.
Students2Science, operational since its establishment in 2009, has already reached over 200,000 students across New Jersey. With Technology Centers in East Hanover and Newark, the organization has been a steadfast advocate for STEM education.
Expressing gratitude for the valuable partnership with The Westfield Foundation, Fred Hage, S2S’s Director of Development, acknowledges the Foundation’s generous donation. This contribution plays a pivotal role in making immersive STEM programs accessible to a greater number of students within Rahway Public Schools. The shared vision to empower students to excel in STEM fields stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between Students2Science and The Westfield Foundation. Together, we take pride in fostering educational opportunities that contribute to the success of students in Rahway and beyond.
