A combined second and third quarter, 36-15 run provided plenty of cushion for the sixth-seeded Franklin Warriors girls basketball team to grab a 58-48 victory over the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Tournament in Somerset on February 21. The Raiders finalized their season with a 14-12 record, while the Warriors rose to 15-13.
Senior Amanda Baylock led the Raiders with 24 points, including a pair of 3-pointers and hitting 6-for-6 from the charity line. Junior Maggie McNulty bucketed 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Junior Marin Pecarsky scored eight points, including a 3-pointer and 3-for-3 from the line. Junior Grace Cawley and senior Sophia Catalano each scored two points.
Alivia Stewart finished with 16 points for the Warriors.Aleah Sunkins scored 14 points and Iyanna Cotten scored 10 points.Alissa Myers scored nine points and Tiffany Pecorella sank trip 3-pointers.
