WF Blue Devil Girls Win 200MR, 200FR at Swim Meet of Champions

Several members of the Westfield High School girls swim team made impressive waves at the Meet of Champions (MOC) held at the Aquatic Center in Sewell on March 2-3. The Blue Devil girls captured first in two relay events, placed second in the 400-freestyle relay, finished third in two individual events and fifth in another individual event. Clare Logan, Emily Constable, Jane Kavanagh and Brooke McAndrew took top honors in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1: 43.89. Constable, Logan, McAndrew and Kavanagh also finished first in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.62. Kavanagh, McAndrew, Constable and Logan then finished second in the 400freestyle relay with a time of 3:29.56.

Individually, Logan finished third in the 100-backstroke with a time of 54.97. Constable finished third in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:02.19. Kavanagh finished fifth in the 100-freestyle at 51.41.

Last year, Logan set the MOC record by winning the 100-backstroke in 53.14. She also touched first in the 50-freestyle at 23.37. Constable won the 100-breaststroke for the second time at 1:02.05. Both Constable and Logan, along with McAndrew, were on the winning 200-medley relay at 1:43.69.

The Blue Devils boys without the services of few standouts, including junior Owen Waibel on Day 2, did manage to place in four events. Danny Pierce, Hudson Wilcomes, Ben Nematadzira and Dylan Altman finished seventh in the 200-medley relay at 1:38.68. Pierce finished seventh in the 100-backstroke at 51.7. Altman, Charlie Jeckell, Nematadzira and Dan McGann finished eighth in the 200-freestyle relay at 1:29.83. Cole Sharkey, Jeckell, McGann and Pierce finished eighth in the 400-freestyle relay at 3:19.81.
