SUMMIT AREA — Laura Ekstrand, founder and artistic director of Vivid Stage, will be the guest speaker at the Tuesday, April 2 meeting of the Summit Area Old Guard.
Formerly called Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, Vivid Stage is a professional ensemble of actors. Ms. Ekstrand will discuss the company and describe how it operates. The program will include the background of the artists, how various plays are chosen, and the processes employed to create a production. The company is located at the Oakes Center, 120 Morris Avenue, Summit. Vivid Stage hopes to produce a film and has an improv troupe in addition to its plays.
Founded in 1930, the Summit Area Old Guard meets most Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 1307 SpringfieldAvenue, New Providence.
The Summit Area Old Guard is a social, recreational and educational fellowship of retired men. Dues are minimal. The group provides speakers and multiple activities through the volunteer efforts of its members. Its motto is “Come for the Programs. Stay for the Friends.”

April 9 — The Larks, under the direction of Joanne Taubner Prussak. April 16 — Bob McAnally, manager of the SAGE Furniture Restoration Workshop.
April 23 — Donna Goggin Patel, chair of the Summit Environmental Commission.
April 30 — Old Guard member David Dietze, managing principal and senior portfolio strategist at Peapack Private Wealth Management.
