The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School softball team rolled with its fourth-straight win with a 16-0 rejection of the Union Catholic Vikings on April 16. The next day, was quite different as the Raiders bowed to the Brearley Bulldogs, 9-1, but on April 18, they rebounded to stop the New Providence Pioneers, 10-5.
The 5-2 Raiders slammed the door on the 4-4 Vikings with a 10-run outburst in the top of the fourth inning and winning pitcher Emily Roof tossed a no-hitter, while striking out nine and walking just two. Roof also went 3for-3, with a walk, three runs scored and two RBI. Sairah Llano blasted a home run and had three RBI.
Julia Friedrichs and Angelina Valente both went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sarina Llano doubled, scored twice and had an RBI. Olivia DiSalvo singled, had three RBI and scored once. Sam Friscia singled, walked, stole a base, scored twice and had an RBI. Harper Shimko went 1for-2 and scored once. Natalie DiFabrizio had an RBI single. Laura Fox and Maddie Bogart each had an RBI. Kate Sullivan walked and scored once.
Brearley Bear pitcher Gia Pirozzi tossed a one-hitter against the Raiders, allowing just a single and a run scored to Shimko. Valente had an RBI. Bogart walked twice and Friscia walked once. Valentina Capra led the Bears with four hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Winning pitcher Sairah Llano recorded six strikeouts in the win over the 5-2 Pioneers and added a pair of singles at the plate. Valente and Shinko each doubled, singled and had an RBI. Friscia singled and had two RBI. Roof singled and scored twice. DiSalvo doubled, scored once and had two RBI. DiFabrizio had an RBI single and scored once. Bogart singled and scored. Friedrichs scored once.
