SCOTCH PLAINS — The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo will return to the Scotch Plains Public Library this Saturday, May 11, from 2 to 3 p.m., to perform favorite songs from Broadway and Hollywood.
The ensemble specializes in thematic historical musical programs of multiple musical genres such as traditional/ hot jazz (Dixieland), Broadway and Hollywood music. Formed in 2012 by then 9-year-old Florian Schantz, the band has since delighted audiences in hundreds of venues.
The band leader is Union Countybased, 21-year-old professional trumpet player Florian Schantz. Mr. Schantz has performed over 825 engagements across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Germany, including at more than 150 libraries. Also appearing with the group are Rup Chattopadhyay on trombone and tuba, Margaret Schantz on flügelhorn and Lowell Schantz on guitar.
