CRANFORD – The Cranford Republican Municipal Committee is pleased to announce that Gina Black will be running for re-election to the Cranford Township Committee in 2024. Cranford needs experienced, open leadership that will put the needs of the Township first. Gina has been providing this type of leadership over her last three years, and will continue to make sure that the public gets a voice in Township government.
“When I ran for Township Committee in 2021, I set out to be an advocate for everyone in Cranford, and to bring common sense to the business of governing our town. That November, the voters of Cranford put their trust in me to be that advocate. In the three years since, I have fought tirelessly to keep open, productive dialogue alive when it comes to the most important issues facing our community,” said Black.
Gina has consistently been the lone dissenting voice fighting for the community on the hot button issues of: unchecked overdevelopment, excessive PILOT agreements, and transparency in Township administration. These issues are complex and are already having significant impacts on our Township and its future.
Development is necessary to keep our Township thriving, but Overdevelopment means our already strained infrastructure will be overwhelmed and that our schools are going to have to take in more and more students, putting strain on our teachers and classrooms. All the while, wealthy developers are exempted through PILOTs from paying property taxes which fund our schools for decades. This leaves us as taxpayers to pick up the rest of the bill. Already high taxes will keep going up and up.
Traffic in town is the worst it has ever been, and it will only keep getting worse. More construction and concrete where there was once open land will make future floods more damaging than they have already become. When the current majority took over, regional flood efforts were put on the backburner. Gina believes these efforts are essential and will continue to fight for real action to address flooding.
Black states, “On the big issues, the rest of the Township Committee moves in lockstep. I am the one independent voice sticking up for our common sense hometown values. I am proud to have been able to work for the last 3 years on behalf of every resident against irresponsible and unchecked overdevelopment and as an advocate for community focused planning that puts Cranford and her residents first. It has been an honor to serve the Cranford community for the past three years as a Commissioner. With your support, I can keep fighting the good fight for another three years. I will work to keep transparency and open dialogue alive on the issues that affect all of us and our families the most.”
If you want common sense development, if you want a say in the future of Cranford, we must say no to 5-0, one-party domination on the Township Committee. The General election for CranfordTownship Committee will be held on Tuesday, November 5.
