St. Bart’s Oltimers Men’s Softball League Results:

St. Sebastian 12, St. Wolfgang 6 “Commish” Jim Killeen introduced Fr. Matt Gonzalez who offered an opening prayer to kick off the 46th season of St. Bart’s softball on May 2 at Brookside Park. Recently retired Larry “Jeans” Szenyi tossed the honorary first pitch.

St. Wolfgang, the “Draft Kings” of 2024, jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning behind key hits from Chris Millar, Mike McKenna and Vinnie Fumero. St. Sebastias took the lead in the third behind key hits from Charlie “Huggy” Baier, Mike Surbrug, Rick Cintron and Glen Gang. Roger Billotto (3-run 2B in 5th). Wolfpack’s Randall Marquez (HR in the fifth).

St. Ignatius 15, St. George 6 St. Ignatius scored six runs in the second inning. Tony “PP” Perconte (HR, 4RBI), Rob Stratton (4-4) and Billy Aumenta (HR, 4RBI) provided the punch for St. Iggy, while captain Bob McGuiness stymied the St. George hitters with his masterful pitching. Josh Baik, John Griffin, and “Commish” Jim Killeen also chipped in with multi-hit games for Iggy. Rob Zerafa, Walt Patrylo, Stan Lesniewski, and Gary Leichtling each racked up multiple hits for the Georgie Boys.

St. Vincent 4, St. Francis 2

St. Vincent pitcher/captain Keith Karyczak scattered 12 hits, while the dynamic St. Fran duo of Harold “Hop” Hopler and Frank Chupko surrendered only four runs toeing the rubber. Rookies Jarrod Pence (3-3) and Eric Carrero (2-2, 2RBI) were impressive, while Scott Shulman and Aner Sousa each chipped in with multi-hit games for St. Vinny. Gus Alvarez and Pat MacDonnell had multiple hits for St. Francis.

St. Anthony 11, St. Justin 6

St. Ant plated 6 runs in the third inning and cruised. St. Anth’s catcher Lance Abramowitz had multiple hits. Anthony.Ara Movsesian (3-3, 5RBI), John “Greenie” Greenblatt, “Tiny” Villegas, Roc Sarna and Rei Santiago each contributed with multiple hits. St. Justin’s bats came alive late in the game behind hits from Tom Ulichny, Daryl Palmieri, Dave Grandmaison and Andy Smyth.
