The second-seeded Summit Hilltoppers were just too much for the third-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raider boys lacrosse team when they recorded an 11-2 victory in the semifinal round of the Union County Tournament at AL Johnson High School in Clark on May 9. The 11-2 Hilltoppers advanced to face the top-seeded Westfield Blue Devils for the title.
Colin Kochanowicz netted a goal, an assist and a ground ball for the 78 Raiders. Aidan Fairweather scored once and Colin McAuliffe had an assist. Ryan Mauer won 10 of 16 face-offs and scooped five ground balls. Caden Matulonis, Jake Lukko, Lou Kelly, Caleb McDowell, Connor Scarpa, Ben Filler and Cooper Dupuis each scooped two ground balls. Goalkeeper Matt Krantz made seven saves.
Dan Flaim, Jim Grainger and Cole Sabol each netted two goals and an assist for Summit. Tyler Sebastian had a goal, two assists and two ground balls. Cade Gilbert and Sean McCeney each had a goal and an assist. Quinn Hynes and LucaAvelino each scored once.
