St. Francis Ousts St. Wolfgang From St. Bart’s Playoffs, 12-7
Having lost in the opening round of the St. Bart’s Oldtimers Men’s Softball League playoff, the men of second- seeded St. Francis and eighthseeded St. Wolfgang had their backs to the wall and needed to run the table in the elimination round if they wanted a chance to face third-seeded St. Vincent for the championship on Labor Day. Leading by just one run heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, St. Francis clumped together seven hits to plate five runs then veteran pitcher Harold Hopler minimized the Wolfpack’s response to earn a 127 victory.
