The eighth-seeded Cranford High School girls tennis team edged the ninth-seeded Voorhees Vikings, 3-2, in the opening round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 Tournament in Cranford on October 1. One week later, on October 8, the 8-3 Cougars fell victim to the top-seeded, 15-0, Parsippany Hills Vikings, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round.
