During my time on the Garwood Board of Education, I take great pride in several accomplishments. I was the first board member in the state to pass a resolution aimed at preventing highly controversial sex education standards and guidelines proposed by politicians in Trenton. Following this resolution, more than 50 school districts quickly adopted similar measures. It was disheartening to experience pushback from some colleagues, who even attempted to have me removed from the board through legal means. Winning those cases was crucial for the future of Garwood and our school district, and I hope it served as a reminder that our focus should be on educating our children rather than undermining one another.
