CLARK—During Monday night’s regular meeting of the Clark Township Council, the regular order of business was suspended to honor Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad members Alan Reilley and Gary Wagner and congratulate them for 50 years of service.
CLARK—During Monday night’s regular meeting of the Clark Township Council, the regular order of business was suspended to honor Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad members Alan Reilley and Gary Wagner and congratulate them for 50 years of service.
“This is amazing. This is what Clark is about – there’s no doubt in my mind,” said Mayor Sal Bonaccorso.
The mayor stressed that when he heard Mr. Reilley and Mr. Wagner both had 50 years of volunteering experience, he wanted to honor them in front of the community and council members.
“On behalf of myself, the citizens, and all the people here in the squad in the community, we’re so grateful, and we thank you so much,” he said.
“Alan has been a cornerstone of our emergency response team, embodying the spirit of selfless service and unwavering commitment.Alan’s journey with our organization has been marked by exceptional contributions,” said Township Clerk Edie Merkel while honoring Mr. Rielley.
She also mentioned his contributions and role in overseeing the care and maintenance of the ambulances, noting his attention to detail and efforts helps keep the fleet in optimal condition.
Ms. Merkel also recognized Mr. Wagner’s efforts as a 50-year volunteer, noting his unwavering commitment and deep sense of duty in his volunteer work.
“His dedication extends far beyond his scheduled shifts. He has consistently gone above and beyond not only fulfilling his duty at night but also covering a majority of daytime calls, ensuring our community receives the highest level of emergency,” she said. “His selflessness and readiness to serve have made a profound impact on both our squad and the community we serve.”
Mr. Wagner took the time to thank the mayor, council and emergency squad. He stated that he became a volunteer after high school to thank the first aid squad, which had visited his childhood home several times.
“That’s what made me get involved, but I never thought I was going to be here that long. Basically, I just want to thank the township of Clark for inviting us here tonight and for the support they’ve given to the squad,” he said.
He also thanked the first aid squad members, past and present, for their time and efforts in the Clark First Aid squad.
During the Mayor and Council’s professional comments, Council Vice President Steven Hund congratulated Mr. Reilley and Mr.Wagner on their fifty years of volunteer work.
“Those two fleets are unbelievable to me. That’s a long-term commitment, more so than marriage. I would say I think they’ve been working here harder than most people have been married, so kudos to them,” he said.
Council President Angel Albanese also expressed her gratitude for being able to honor their hard work.
“It is just wonderful to be here tonight; it is just wonderful to be here this night to honor Alan Rielley and Gary Wagner 50 years. I mean, that’s totally amazing, and that’s really the fabric of Clark; that’s what makes it a great place to live to be in a small town where you can have personal exchanges with the people who are involved in these things,” she said.
