SUMMIT AREA — The Summit Area Old Guard will hear from Randi Koenig, a principal of Legacy Genealogy Services, at its meeting on Tuesday, March 18, at 9:30 a.m. Ms. Koenig will present an interactive genealogical lecture entitled “What’s Your Legacy?” She will cover tips, tricks, working with common names, overcoming brick walls, and strategies for success equally suitable for an advanced genealogical researcher or the casual researcher working on a family tree.

A professional forensic genealogist, Ms. Koenig often provides expert- witness testimony in New York and New Jersey and conducts services for dual citizenship by descent proceedings in countries such as Ireland, Italy, Lithuania and Poland.
Founded in 1930, the Summit Area Old Guard meets most Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 1307 Springfield Avenue, New Providence.
The Old Guard is a social, recreational and educational fellowship of retired men. Dues are minimal. The group provides speakers and multiple activities through its members’ volunteer efforts.

The next Old Guard speaker will be Lauren S. Barr, publisher and editor-in-chief of The Westfield Leader
She will discuss how The Leader has managed to survive and thrive since 1890, while 64 percent of local newspapers have failed.
