Loving Father and Grandfather
Gary McMillan, 74, of Lavallette, N.J., died on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick Township, N.J.
A visitation was held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains, N.J.
Family and friends gathered from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the funeral home, where a service was offered at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Gary to the Lavallette First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 334, Lavallette, N.J. 08735.
Cremation and inurnment will be private.
Gary was born in Plainfield, N.J., and was raised and lived in Westfield, N.J., Cranford, N.J., and Scotch Plains, N.J., settling in Lavallette in 2012.
Gary was a 1968 graduate of Westfield High School. Shortly after high school, Gary entered the United States Army Reserves and was active from 1971 to 1977, being Honorably Discharged as a Drill Sergeant. Gary did his basic training at Fort Dix, N.J., became a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and trained as a Tank driver at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Gary began his working career as a Machinist with Accurate Bushing Company in Garwood and Union, N.J. He then became a service technician with Scientific Water Boiler Conditioning Company in Linden, N.J., retiring in 2008. Gary was a member of the American Legion Post 3 of Westfield and the Westfield Men’s Softball League. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing softball in the men’s league and was a die-hard Yankees fan. Most of all, Gary cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
Gary is predeceased by his brother, Greg.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Monica (née Sisto); loving children, son Gary, daughter Dana DiSandro and her husband, Anthony; cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth and Anthony DiSandro; and his caring brother, Glenn, and his wife, MaryAnne.
